CHAPTER 7

LUCKNOW,

As soon as the taxi stopped in front of Charu's house, Vani's eyes widened.

The mansion stood tall and polished, surrounded by lush gardens, marble stairs, and warm golden lights glowing from every window. It didn't look like a home...it looked like a palace.

"Come," Charu smiled, holding Vani's hand gently, "don't be scared."

The moment they stepped inside, the cool air hit them. Expensive paintings decorated the walls, the floor was spotless white marble, and a huge chandelier sparkled above their heads. Vani felt even smaller in that grand space.

Charu's family gathered in the living room. Her stepmother gave a polite smile, her father nodded softly-but Vani felt a strange chill when she noticed Charu's stepbrother.

He leaned back on the sofa, eyes slowly trailing over Vani as if examining her.

There was something dark... something unsettling in his stare. His smirk held bad intentions, the kind that made Vani instinctively step closer to Charu.

Charu glanced at him sharply, protective.

"Let's go to my room," she whispered quickly.

They climbed upstairs, closing the door behind them. Vani finally exhaled, her shoulders relaxing.

After some time, Charu pulled out a thick folder and placed it on the bed.

"These are your notes," she said gently. "Study them tonight, okay?"

Vani nodded, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

Ok listen tomorrow is first lecture of mr ahaan sir so we have to reach on 7am ok

Who is ahhan sir Vani said

He is new arrogant sir , I don't like him he always scold me but everyone in college like him . Because our college girls thoughts he is sugar daddy figure .

And Vani only smile on this.

MORNING TIME

Soft sunlight filtered into Charu's luxurious room.

Charu turned and saw Vani blinking awake, hair messy, eyes still sleepy.

"Good morning, meri princess," Charu smiled.

Vani stretched her arms and gave a shy smile.

They freshened up, and Charu handed Vani some clothes.

"Wear this," she said mysteriously.

Vani slipped into the outfit-a red half-shoulder top and dark blue fitted pants.

When she stepped out of the washroom, Charu gasped dramatically.

"Ohhooo... meri laal pari!" Charu said with a wink.

"You look so hot, Vani. Aaj toh pure college ka temperature badhne wala hai!"

Vani's cheeks instantly turned pink.

"Charu, stop na..."

But Charu only hugged her and laughed.

They had breakfast downstairs, ignoring the creepy look from Charu's stepbrother, and then left for college.

The moment they walked through the college gates, everything stopped.

People whispered.

Some students stared openly.

A few even widened their eyes in disbelief.

"Is that... Vani?"

"She came back?"

"But after that accident...?"

"We all thought she won't return..."

Vani felt hundreds of eyes on her.

Her hands grew cold, but Charu held her tightly.

"Let them stare," Charu murmured.

"You look stunning. Walk like a queen."

Vani lifted her chin and walked forward.

When they entered the classroom, the new professor was already there-Ahaan Singh.

Tall, sharp, perfectly ironed shirt, with an expression colder than winter.

He didn't smile. Didn't nod. Didn't even move when the class greeted him.

He was exactly how charu described-handsome... but arrogant.

Ahaan was writing something on the board when he suddenly paused.

His eyes shifted to the doorway.

He saw her.

Vani.

For one heartbeat, his expression changed.

A mix of surprise, curiosity... and something he quickly hid behind a stern look.

Charu whispered, "That's him... Professor Mr Ahaan sir . King of attitude."

Vani couldn't look away.

Her heart thudded strangely, louder with every step she took toward her seat.

Ahaan's voice broke the silence, cold and deep.

"You," he said without warning.

Vani blinked.

"Me... sir?"

"Yes. You. The one who entered late."

She wasn't late at all-but his tone was challenging.

"Come forward."

Charu whispered, "He's testing you."

Vani stood up slowly, walking to the front, feeling his intense gaze tracing her every step.

Ahaan crossed his arms.

"Since you've finally decided to attend classes after... whatever drama happened outside," he said, eyes locked on hers,

"solve this problem."

The whole class gasped.

Everyone knew about her accident.

Everyone except him.

Vani swallowed, holding the chalk.

Her hands trembled-but she started solving.

Ahaan walked closer.

Too close.

His voice lowered.

"That's wrong. Again."

She corrected it.

He leaned forward a little.

"Focus," he said.

She did.

But she also couldn't ignore how her heart was racing, how her eyes kept drifting to his, how something inside her shifted.

When she finally got the answer right, Ahaan's eyes softened... for half a second.

"Good," he said quietly.

Then he turned away sharply, as if angry at himself for praising her.

Vani returned to her seat, breathless.

Charu smirked.

"Girl... you already got his attention."

And Vani knew it too.

Because even as Ahaan continued the lecture with arrogance and attitude-

his eyes searched for her again and again.
